Brief Summary

Transformation takes place in the mind - not the body. It resides in an acceptance that the world is perfect as it is, and so are you. You lack nothing and - in fact - possess everything you need to succeed if you’re willing to strategically work for it.

About the Author

Psychotherapist, frequent lecturer, and world-famous author of “Your Erroneous Zones” and “Pulling Your Own Strings” - along with over 20 other books, Dr. Wayne Dyer uses his doctorate in counseling to spotlight how our thoughts dictate our success.

Key Insights

The self-help industry rakes in millions every year. Why? There’s hardly a person among us who doesn’t want to feel the joy that comes from living a fulfilled life. The problem is not a lack of interest, it’s a lack of direction. Too many of us turn to external transformations (career changes, dieting, etc) for content rather than looking inward. Award-winning author and renowned psychotherapist Dr. Wayne Dyer proves why changing the way we think and perceive the world is actually the key to personal contentment and fulfilled lives.

What You’ll Learn

Dr. Dyer walks readers through an explanation of the power of one’s thoughts, the importance of how one perceives the world, and the interconnected nature of the universe. By the time you’ve finished the book, you’ll have learned:

  • How to take ownership of your own happiness and stop relying on people and things to fulfill you.
  • How to find gratitude for the life you live and the things you have - exactly as they are.
  • The transformative power of forgiveness.
  • Why there are no coincidences.
  • Why remote-controlled cars have more meaning than you might think.

Your Physical Body, Consciousness, and Personal Transformation

As humans, we spend an inordinate amount of time focused on our physical form - the body. In reality, 99% of who we are exists in an entirely different realm. Quick to jump to cynicism, many dismiss the idea as “new-age” and suspect.

But, consider the facts for a moment. In a physical form, our body is little more than an impressive collection of muscles, tissues, bones, organs, and blood. Without a mind, we are little more than a body of mass.

Once you add the mind to the picture, however, the entire landscape changes. Our mind is our consciousness. And, therein lies the transformative possibilities that accompany being alive. When we harness the power of the mind to enact changes, we produce stronger and more long-lasting transformations.

You Are What You Eat (Or, Think)

Make the argument that a diet consisting solely of donuts is unlikely to yield optimal physical performance and few would argue. If you take the argument a step further and make the claim that we can control how our body functions by making conscious choices about the foods we put in it, you still won’t find many naysayers.

Claim that we can control whether we succeed or fail by consciously feeding our brains the right thoughts and suddenly you lose people. Consider something as pedestrian as a fear of public speaking. Thousands of Americans have this fear. What determines who overcomes their fear and who doesn’t? What do they tell themselves about it.

Those who feed the fear, engage with the thoughts, and replay the “I’m much too shy to do that” narrative in their heads are unlikely to successfully overcome the fear. On the flip side; those who overcome the fear notice it, label it, refuse to engage, and consciously tell themselves that they are the best public speaker around.

What you feed, grows. What you starve, dies. The same...
